Something changed, and I cannot figure it out..............
On my CPU window, the clock speed is stuck at 2001 MHz, Processes are always 0, and no Top Process is shown.
Reboot, refresh, reinstall does not fix it.
Do you have any suggestions?
(Windows 10, updates current)

I started using illustro extended on windows 7 before upgrading to windows 10. I love it!
After upgrading, and after the recent major update to windows 10, I have suddenly noticed the the CPU Uptime is incorrect.
Instead of starting at 0 on each boot, it seems to remember the last uptime, and just keep adding to it.
Do you have any idea how I can fix this?

Never mind................
I just got another Windows 10 update. After the update restart, Uptime started at 0,0,0. Must have been a Windows 10 problem with update 1511.

Never mind the never mind........................
I shut down my laptop after posting above comment, and then rebooted late this afternoon.
Illustro Extended still shows the Uptime as cumulative from this morning, and counting.
Sure wish that I could fix this!

That's an issue that arises due to Windows 8/10s default shutdown being the hybrid quick boot mode. Since it doesn't do a true shutdown the measure that the uptime reads from doesn't get reset. As far as I'm aware there isn't any way to fix it. The reason why you thought it might have been fixed is because when you restart it does do a true shutdown, thus the measure did get reset.

Thanks for the reply.
I finally did find a way to insure that the uptime counter ALWAYS gets reset.....
In power options, there is a check box to enable fast boot set by default. To insure that the uptime counter gets reset, uncheck the box.
I did some testing, and the difference in boot time with the box unchecked is ever so sightly longer. Not enough to make a difference to me.
I fail to see why Microsoft would want to handle the uptime counter this way??

With fast boot enabled, when you shutdown the computer it shuts down the user part but puts the system part into hibernation. Since it doesn't need to load up the system part when you start the computer back up, just the user part, it boots up much quicker (more noticeable on HDDs then SSDs). The measures which handles the uptime is part of the system part, so it doesn't get reset as it just thinks its been put into hibernation, not shutdown.

Hey, nice skin. I used it for months now. But since I upgraded my hardware an reinstalled windows 7 yesterday I got the strange problem that the memory skin shows 32gb of swap instead of 16gb that I have. Do you know how to fix this?

I see what you mean. I had a quick look at it and it appears to be an issue with how Rainmeter get's the values. I'll think I know how to fix it so I'll have a play around with a couple things and see how we go.

Hi, love the skin. Only one issue. I cant seem to get my SD card size to show properly, comes up 0kb/0kb. I have looked through the coding and cant see an issue. I tried adding IgnoreRemovable=0 to the code but that didn't seem to change anything. Any suggestions?

I just did a quick test now and it worked for me when adding IgnoreRemovable=0. You need to add it like so.

; ----------------------------------
; MEASURES return some kind of value
; ----------------------------------

[measureTotalDisk3]
Measure=FreeDiskSpace
Drive=#disk3#
Total=1
UpdateDivider=120
IgnoreRemovable=0

[measureUsedDisk3]
Measure=FreeDiskSpace
Drive=#disk3#
InvertMeasure=1
UpdateDivider=120
IgnoreRemovable=0

I like this enhanced version. I'm not always looking for fancy, scifi-like displays, so this one does the job well. A couple questions, though...

1. The 6 disks.ini works well, but I get no bars below the G: and H: drives. The capacity and used space are reported correctly.

2. Would it be possible to have a generic music icon display when the current music track has no cover artwork?

Thanks for the good work.

I've uploaded a new version which fixes the issue with the meter on the Disk skin. I'll have a look at using a fill-in image if the current track has no artwork.

It works now. Thanks. :) And the music image, no worries if it turns out to be hard to implement. It's just an idea that I thought would make it look nice. I think that perhaps it may be easier for it to load something like a small JPG or PNG file that the user could copy into the skin folder.

I've noticed that it will at times report a lower clock speed (most likely due to Windows/the CPU under clocking itself when there's not the demand for its full speed). This is usually fixed by just refreshing the skin manually.

They are clearly listed in the file under Measures, the ones you want to delete are
[MeasureCPUName], [MeasureProcesses], [MeasureTopProcess], and [MeasureSystemUpTime]

Sorry for all the commenting...But I went back to the forum-post linked in my 1st comment, and there was a user there (eclectic-tech) who was having the same issue as me, and moshi told him to try adding a semicolon in front of the UniNewsSubstitute= coding (making it ;UniNewsSubstitute=, which I guess decreases the load on the computer processor because it renders the 'UniNewsSubstitute' code ignored).
So---I did that in all the Feeds skins from this suite, and so far it has worked. Just thought I'd mention that here, in case anyone reading runs into the same issue.....

Well, I spoke too soon.....I'm still experiencing RM crashes with webparser.dll errors. RainMeter crashes the 1st few times: i.imgur.com/XHzmroK.png

WHAT in the heck is causing this???? It doesn't happen if I remove the Feeds skins from the Skins folder.....:(

Harley, are you the fella at the RainMeter forum who made the 1st 'Uninews' skin, the temporary one? Here: rainmeter.net/forum/viewtopic....
Are you (username) moshi there?
Well, I was just wondering, if moshi IS you, what you did different with the Feeds in this skin? because the Uninews skin posted at the forum kept crashing RainMeter, giving me some kind of webparser.dll error....

The feed in this skin, however, is working fine so far...no errors. I have looked at the coding of both, side-by-side, and I do see that the skins in these (illustro extended) are using a more refined coding, plus I see that you have, rather than a background for each skin, parameters (BackgroundMode) instead, which is great. Nice work!

I am just wondering why I was getting the webparser errors from the skin posted at the forum. I also upgraded to 3.0.0 beta.....but was using the 2.5 version, which kept crashing with the Uninews skin posted at the forum.
If I open the "About" in RainMeter, even now, to the Log section, you can see the errors still logged: i.imgur.com/I69xp0r.png .....I think those logs are from when I had the forum-posted Uninews skin installed earlier. At least I hope so! So far the feed in this illustro extended hasn't crashed RainMeter.

I actually changed the bg to one I made, and made 3 more copies of the Feeds skin (naming them Feeds, Feeds1, Feeds2, etc.), so I could match the style I'm running atm on my desktop, plus keep up with some more news I'm interested in (Alex Jones' InfoWars, abovetopsecret.com....all that good paranoid conspiracy stuff). Here's a screenie: i.imgur.com/2YsLYKY.png

Anyway, thanks for your hard work with this, Faving for sure!:iconxd--plz:

Hi, thanks for making this update. A lot of it is really useful. I do have 1 question though: what is the purpose of the total uploaded and total downloaded bars? What exactly do they measure?
Reply
:iconharleygorillason:

They measure the network traffic on your computer. In most cases it will give you a ruff estimate of how much you have downloaded/uploaded to and from the Internet.

If you give me a list of the days in your chosen language then I can create a version of it for you that will translate it.

e.g. For German
Monday = Montag
Tuesday = Dienstag

Hi, I used your
"illustro" for the measure of used space in hard disks.
I extended until 6 disks , and all ok
But with the 7th disk I have problem to show the total Gb of the disk
That means instead 200Gb (as total memory capacity of the disk) and 13 Gb as used, I read on desktop:
13Gb/%2 B used
I have a png image for you with the list of the .ini file. Can I send you to check my error ?
Thbnsk for help
